Cultivating passion in young musicians through immersive and diverse symphonic experiences in Mid-Missouri's #1 Youth Symphony Program.

The Missouri Symphony Conservatory (MSC) is the branch of MOSY whose goal it is to educate and inspire young musicians through performance opportunities to become lifelong music advocates.

The Missouri Symphony Conservatory is proud to offer quality educational experiences with high-caliber educators and musicians in the mid-Missouri area.

The MSC is fortunate to have phenomenal instructors as well as a strong partnership with the University of Missouri’s School of Music and the Columbia Public Schools. The Missouri Youth Symphony is also the full youth symphonic orchestra in the area. Our Conservatory students have the wonderful opportunity to learn firsthand from professional MOSY musicians as well as playing alongside them.

The conservatory in 2026/2027 will be organized in two different ensembles, the Overture Philharmonic Orchestra and Missouri Youth Symphony Orchestra. Each group will have a performance every semester, plus additional performances and fun activities - fundraisers, concerts at Lenoir Woods, and much more.

Ensemble placements are based on the age of the student as well as how long they have been playing their instrument. All rehearsals will take place in West Middle School on Monday afternoons for Fall and Spring semesters.
Fall Semester
- September 14th - November 30th: Fall Semester Classes
- November 30th: Concert at Lenoir Woods
- December 6th: Fall Concert (Location TBD)
- December 12th & 13th: Missouri Youth Symphony will collab with Missouri Symphony at annual holiday concert at Missouri Theater
Spring Semester
- January 25th - May 3rd: Spring Semester classes
- April 25th: Afternoon Tea with Missouri Symphony League
- May 3rd: Concert at Lenoir Woods
- May 9th: Spring Concert at The Missouri Theater
Beginner and Intermediate level (3rd to 7th grade). This will be an entry-level full symphonic experience. Strings, winds, brass, and percussion are invited to join us.
Rehearsals: Mondays at 4:30-5:30pm
Our flagship full symphonic youth orchestra. 7th grade to senior in High School. Students need to have had at least 4 years of orchestra experience.
Rehearsals: Mondays at 5:45-7pm
